The Cedar Hill Chamber of Commerce celebrates the 10th Annual Small Business Saturday® by hosting a Chamber Small Business Saturday Shopping Guide as an American Express® Neighborhood Champion.

CEDAR HILL - NOV 22 2019: The Cedar Hill Chamber of Commerce announced today that, as a member of the
American Express® Neighborhood Champion Program, it will host an event as part of Small Business Saturday, which takes place on Nov 30. Created by American Express in 2010, Small Business Saturday celebrates the impact small businesses have on communities across the country.

The Cedar Hill Chamber of Commerce is putting together a "shopping guide" of participating businesses that are Chamber members to help spread the word to the community and have an easy to use resource to locate small businesses. The goal of this guide is to share small businesses that are a part of the Chamber and the sales, specials, or other things they have going on in celebration of Small Business Saturday.

This year’s celebration is the 10th Annual Small Business Saturday, marking a decade of support from American Express for local business owners. Since it started in 2010, consumers have reported spending an estimated $103 billion across all Small Business Saturdays combined. 1 That’s $103 billion toward helping communities thrive, spent over just nine days alone.

In order to drive shoppers to Shop Small® this Nov 30, The Cedar Hill Chamber of Commerce is participating in the American Express® Neighborhood Champion Program to spotlight small businesses and the impact they have on communities. An average two-thirds of every dollar ($0.67) spent at a small business in the U.S. stays in that local community.2 That means shopping small could help bring things like better schools, smoother roads, and new jobs to neighborhoods across the country.

The Cedar Hill Chamber of Commerce has been participating in Small Business Saturday for several years

1 This spend statistic is an aggregate of the average spend as reported by consumers in surveys commissioned by American Express reporting spend habits on Small Business Saturday of consumers who were aware of the day. It does not reflect actual receipts or sales. Each such survey was conducted among a nationally representative sample of U.S. adults. The surveys had an overall margin of error of between +/- 2.0% and +/- 5.47%, at the 95% level of confidence. The data was projected from the samples based on then-current U.S. Census estimates of the U.S. adult population (18+).
2 The statistic cited is an estimate based on calculations using data on small businesses with under 100 employees from the U.S. Small Business Administration, as reported in the 2018 Small Business Economic Impact Study conducted by Econsult Solutions, Inc. (ESI) on behalf of American Express.
